How Windshield Chip Repair Works

As an auto dealer, we want you to know what to do when your windshield is damaged, so today we'll be discussing how the repair process works for windshield damage.

Repairing a chip doesn't remove the break from the windshield, but it does bond the broken glass to make it stronger and extend its life. This is done by forcing the air out of the glass and filling the spot in with resin. Depending on the severity of the damage, the spot will either look like a bug splatter or some other blemish on your windshield.

There is a limit to how big of an area of damage on a windshield can be fixed, so for more severe damage, an entire replacement is recommended as opposed to a chip repair. However, no matter what type of break your windshield encounters, it's important to get it taken care of right away.
