How to Start a Car Battery

Jumping another car is not as difficult as some people try to make it. It is a skill that everyone should try to learn. The most common way to jump-start another car is to hook it up to a car with a fully functioning battery to get the jump required.

Always make sure that the battery on neither car is obviously damaged or frozen. Either of those scenarios could result in serious harm to the person hooking them up. It is incredibly dangerous to proceed with jumping a battery in those conditions.

Clip the alligator clips to the correct batteries (the batteries must match in voltage), and make sure the donor battery is not low on voltage. Idle the car for a number of minutes to peel some of the juice off of the donor car to allow the battery on the other car to be charged up how it should be.
